Valentin Returns

Today is the release day for my sixth Darkyn novel, Twilight Fall. This book features Valentin Jaus, the suzerain from Chicago who first appeared in Private Demon, and Liling Harper, a gardener who (indirectly) works for Jaus at a private rehabilitation hospital. The series protagonists, Alexandra Keller and Michael Cyprien, also return to continue their quest for everlasting love, a cure for the Darkyn, and what to do on the LearJet during those long, boring flights to the West coast.

So far the feedback from my readers has been quite positive, something I really wasn't expecting after the popularity of Evermore, which was a very different book from this one. Also, two cameo scenes from TF have resulted in a flood of requests for Rain and Farlae's story. I would have to do that as a free e-book, and I can't promise anything, as I've already got Incarnatio to work on for this fall. But if/when the work schedule permits, I hope to write a novella about the guys and how they met.

It's tough for me to ask readers to buy my books when the economy is so bad, but this is how I make my living, and sales of my work in print provide the funds for everything else I do here at PBW. That and if I don't do at least one straight self-promo post for the book, I think they will send someone to the house to break my legs. So if you enjoy dark fantasy and vampire fiction, and you have some room on a gift card or a few bucks to spare, I hope you'll check out Twilight Fall, now available for order online or at most U.S. bookstores nationwide.

    Hi Lynn,
I will definitely buy Twilight Fall as soon as it gets to South Africa. I love the Darkyn books.

  2. Our economy may be circling the drain (even up here in Canuckland), but I will always find enough spare coin for books. It's just a matter of prioritizing the budget!

I finished Twilight Fall this evening. Thank you, dear Author, for another wonderful glimpse into the Darkyn realm. As I read I couldn't help but think of your recent blog on "the end" of this series, which saddens me muchly. However, I can understand your reasoning even as I mourn the coming finale.

A tip of the hat to you for a fine book, well crafted & brilliantly executed!

I pre-ordered my copy weeks ago, so now I'm just waiting for delivery. I am terribly distraught to learn that these are the last two books in the series, as it's one of my favorites. I had so been hoping for a book on Korvel too. Sigh. ~Jennifer

  8. I also pre-ordered and now I just have to hustle through my current read so I can start!!!

    Congrats and Happy Release Day!

PS: The economy is bad and it's making me slog through my huge TBR pile of stuff I bought a year ago but TF is shooting straight to the top!

  9. Okay. You've twisted my arm, I'll go right after work and pick it up.
Besides, crutches are a pain in the butt (and armpits, and wrists...).
    Happy Release Day!

  11. My copy is on the slow train from the Dallas distribution center. It should be here by Thursday. Unfortunately, I'm leaving town for two weeks. Never fear. It will wait for me in A/C comfort at the post office with Holly's Hawkspar for company until I return.

Dallas is three hours from here. You don't know how tempted I am just to tell them, "Hold it at the gate, I'll drive up and pick up the order." I only say that, because a book managed to get lost between there and here a month ago. They refunded my money, then the book was returned to them as undeliverable. Yeah. It never made it to my post office. I wonder what the postal system was doing to the poor thing for three weeks.

Oops. I kinda' got carried away there. Sorry.

  15. I am getting my copy next Thursday and if I don't on that day, you can send the guys from the old neighborhood to my house to find out why. LOL

  17. I would love to read about Rain and Farlae.

Just started reading Twilight Fall, don't have as much time to read now as I'd like, but that just means I get to read it for longer. :)

  18. Bought it, read it and enjoyed it!!! Now I'm back to waiting again for the next one with lots of scenarios going through my head about how it will all end. I would love an e-book about Rain and Farlae---they were great!!! I also collect your books in hardcover from a book club so I ordered it today--- just doing my part to help. : )

  21. Twilight Fall was delivered today, July first, but my sister was visiting from out of town, so I didn't start reading until tonight. On page 20 and I had to stop and say 'thank you'. I'm already in love with Valentin and Liling.

  23. I knew that my local Borders had your book late last week, but darn them!, they made me wait until yesterday to buy it...and I did. It's sitting here tempting me to read it...whispering as I try to finish up tasks and commitments...promising a wonderful read.

Don't know if I'll be able to hold out and savor it...but I'm trying! Lynn -- best wishes for even more success with this one...I know I'm going to enjoy every second of it...

I bought it yesterday and finished it this morning. A friend had given me an autographed copy of Dark Need a few days ago, and I couldn't put it down. The day I finished reading it I went out to see if my local bookstore had any more of your books. I grabbed Valentin's book so fast the lady next to me started laughing. She held up her own copy and said "Yeah, I did the same thing."
