eReads Ten

Ten Things with Free eReads

Fictionwise currently lists 42 ebooks on their freebie page.

Random House has put up on Scribd Manifold Time by Stephen Baxter and Dark Fever by Karen Marie Moning (both are free for a limited time.) Note 9/3/10: Since Scribd.com instituted an access fee scam to charge people for downloading e-books, including those I have provided for free for the last ten years, I have removed my free library from their site, and no longer use or recommend using their service. My free reads may be read online or downloaded for free from Google Docs; go to my freebies and free reads page for the links. See my post about this scam here.

Finding Free Ebooks Blog is devoted to listing "websites LEGALLY distributing free ebooks, mostly novel length fiction."

Free Ebooks Blog also keeps track of the various freebies being offered, along with download requirements and any expiration dates.

Wiki.mobileread.com has an extensive list of free read links here.

Download unlimited free ebooks anytime at FreeEbooks.net.

From Kindle 2 Review, here's an extensive list of free ebooks for Kindle and Kindle 2.

The "most imitated" free ebook site, OnlineFreeEBooks.net, seems to have a lot of nonfic and manuals to offer.

To keep track of what Random House is putting out for free download (like Red Mars by Kim Stanley Robinson) bookmark their Suvudu.com site's free library page. Note 9/3/10: Since Scribd.com instituted an access fee scam to charge people for downloading e-books, including those I have provided for free for the last ten years, I have removed my free library from their site, and no longer use or recommend using their service. My free reads may be read online or downloaded for free from Google Docs; go to my freebies and free reads page for the links. See my post about this scam here.

Last but not least, as part of my one of my LB&LI workshops, I've posted the first three chapters of my novels Ghost Writer (paranormal mystery) and Lost Lake (paranormal YA) on Scribd. 1. There's another good blog listing free online novels

    Online Novels

    From the Introduction

"Online Novels contains the titles of more than 500 online books written by both published and unpublished authors who have made their work freely available on the internet. The novels listed here are organized by category, with brief descriptions taken from the websites on which they can be found."

  2. There's also a great source called dailylit.com. You can get short readable bits of classics emailed to you (or fed to your google reader) everyday. When you can catch a minute to take a break it's a good way to get in a little bit of literature and not feel overwhelmed holding a massive copy of Moby Dick.
