Fine with Will

I took the How Long Would You Survive After the Apocalypse test and discovered I'll probably make it for a while after:

This also gives me an excuse to tell a true story: my daughter actually met Will Smith some years back during a school field trip to Disney World. The actor was there on vacation with his kids, and still took the time to stop and talk to my daughter and her class and answer some questions. We didn't know about any of this until she mentioned it during dinner that night, and I didn't believe her until I asked her teacher, who confirmed the whole thing. So if I'm going to be like any celebrity, I'm absolutely fine with Will Smith.

How long will you survive after the Apocalypse? Take the test and post your results in comments.

Added: Broken link for the test has been fixed -- apologies for that.

    Link's broken - "h" missing from "http". :)

I went there and took the quiz -- it said forty years!! I have no idea how they got that from my answers though.

    1. I'm not sure how they calculated it, either, Blue -- and thanks for mentioning the problem with the link. ;)

  2. The link's broken but I found the quiz here: http://games.usvsth3m.com/how-long-would-you-survive-after-the-apocalypse/

It says I'd last a month, but it didn't take into account how rural your location is, whether you have plenty of game animals nearby, whether you own or can make weapons... I think I'd last quite a while if I had to. =o)

    1. I think those of us who live in rural areas would probably survive a bit longer/better than the folks in the city. Out here most of us are already gardeners, and have enough space to grow our own food if need be. We also have immediate access to source necessities like livestock, wells, woods -- and lots and lots of weapons. :)

  3. I'd survive for 50 years after the apocalypse. "You'll be around until civilisation rebuilds itself. There'll be legends told about your name.

You're basically the dog in Independence Day."

    Woof.

  4. It said I'd survive 6 months so I'd be toast.

  5. I'll make it 40 years. I'm Kevin Costner in Waterworld. Makes sense. Since I got my hair cut we have about the same amount.

  9. The test says 6 months. But my oldest daughter, who originally said she was going to do a 'double tap to the head' in the event of zombies and put me out of my misery beforehand, has decided that my skills at gardening, saving seeds, and canning/preserving food would come in to handy. So they will keep me around long enough to learn the skills. Scary that we've had this much discussion about it! lol

    1. Honestly, I never thought much about the Apocalypse until I saw the way the goverment behaved after Katrina, Judy. Since our government has demonstrated just how little they care to protect its citizens in the aftermath of a disaster, I do much more to prepare during hurricane season. Maybe it's good that we all think about it (a little, anyway.)

    1. We'll send a boat, Fran. Although I think you and our other Brit cousins will be fine. As all the wars have proven, you're very tough people.

  12. Fifty Years. Nice to know all those classes in wilderness survival will come in handy.

  13. I got 5 years also - though based on my answers, I have no idea how.

  14. Fifty Years for me and I wasn't at all surprised, I have participated in all kinds of survival, I save seeds from year to year and I have completed through hikes of the Appalachian Trail. Life will be less crowded once the Apocalypse comes if the results are any indication. Buy up those scouting manuals people and start reading. ;-)

  15. Either forty years or fifty years for me, depending on how I answer the food question. The quiz doesn't give an option between 'a month at most' and 'years.' I don't store rations for the apocalypse, but I do a lot of annual bulk shopping and I probably have about 6 months worth of food stored if I ration it carefully.
