Poll Results

My visitors have voted, and the results of the Kyn Poll 2009 are:

Richard & Elíane: 13
Korvel: 11
John Keller: 10
Phillipe: 10
New characters: 8
Marcella: 6
Guy: 5
Marian: 4
Nick & Gabriel: 4
Luisa: 3
Shalan: 3
Kyan & Melanie: 2
Thierry & Jema: 2
Any character: 1
Armand: 1
Gilanden: 1

Richard & Elíane are the clear winners, so the next Darkyn free e-book will feature a continuation of their storyline (which should be really different from what I've done so far, as well as a decent writing challenge for me.)

Since Korvel came pretty close to tying R&E for the top spot, I thought about having him as a secondary character in the e-book. But honestly, I think Korvel needs his own novel-length story to resolve his issues. I had tentatively planned to feature him as a protagonist in a future Darkyn print standalone (the story would probably include Nick and Gabriel as secondary characters doing what I had Nick and Alex discuss in STN) should that ever come to pass. I don't know right now; I'm going to give it some more thought.

Thank you all for the input. It really helps me to hear what you're thinking and what you'd like to read in the future.

    Lynn,
I love the idea of a Richard and Eliane story. Yes, he is a nasty man, but I believe he has been nasty to protect the Darkyn. He doesn't have to be a nice guy in the book. But, some nice private moments with Eliane won't be too bad to see. Maybe she can make him more human again.

P.S. I received the book club edition of STN. The cover is pink. But not as bright a pink as the paperback copies in the stores. The color is growing on me! It is a manly pink for Rob and Chris.

  2. Lynn, just thought you would like to know that STN is sold out where I live. I didn't realize there were so many of your readers in this area.

I can't wait for Richard and Eliane's story, looking forward to it! Well, looking forward to everything you write. Now that I've gone through everything on Scrbd, I've gotta get your Stardoc books next. I just hope I can sneak a box from amazon.com past my husband.

  3. I see there were others who were intrigued by what was found in Marian's coffin. That story certainly could be a standalone!

ITA with Tami - Richard had to be one tough Darkyn through the centuries to keep former Knights Templar in line and stay a step ahead of the Brethren.

Is John going to be a main character in the new Kyn books?

Yes! Lovely! I´m going to love reading their story, and what you can came up with. Hope you enjoy the challenge (as much as we´ll enjoy reading).
I voted for them, and I was always very curious about them. So thank you for satisfying that curiosity.
Just one question, any dates for the story? :)

  7. Lynn,

I loved Stay the Night. I am glad you are going to give us more of the Darkyn but I see where you have opened up some new things too. I'm one of those people if there's a story line I love, I never want to see it end and this is one of those stories.

I am excited to see where the road is going to take us though.

thanks for opening up this world to us.

  8. Yay! I wanted to vote for Richard but I hadn't finished Stay the Night and didn't want to read any spoilers so I didn't vote. Yay!

    Very excited about this development!

Thank you for letting me know about that, Tami. I'm sorry it didn't have the original cover art, but at least it's a little less offensive than the paperback version.

I'd love to claim that was the cause, but evidently the first shipments sent out to stores back in December were less than adequate, and now the book is sold out in quite a few places across the country. Hopefully the next shipment is a little healthier. :)

No, not that I have planned. My publisher could overrule that, of course, but they've never been particularly fond of John's character.

I haven't quite finalized the writing schedule for this year; I have to negotiate two, possibly three new contracts and see what the publishers want me to do for them before I commit to a date for the free e-book. Also, I think this is going to develop into one of my longer novellas or even a novel-length project. My best ballpark estimate is probably sometime this summer or early fall, but don't chisel that in stone just yet. :)

Will do. And will be waiting for it, how long it takes.
A novel-lenght project? Take your time! For us to have a darkyn story (especially with Richard and Éliane :) - sorry, still very curious to see what becomes of them) as a free e-book, is a treat.
    Thank you!

  14. Thank you! Looking very forward to it, except for the niggling worry I may not like what you do to them.
