Tobias

I'd like to ask everyone to send all the positive prayers and energy you can to one of our blogpals, SF author Tobias Buckell, as he's in the hospital with a cardiac issue. He's young, he sought medical attention promptly, and his attitude is upbeat, which is a big part of the battle. Still, it's a scary situation, and any good thoughts you can send his way would be much appreciated.

The Hebrew faithful have a beautiful prayer for the sick that a friend taught me many years ago. Here's the English version:

May the One who blessed our ancestors --
Patriarchs Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob,
Matriarchs Sarah, Rebecca, Rachel, and Leah --
bless and heal the one who is ill: Tobias.
May the Holy Blessed One
overflow with compassion upon him,
to restore him, to heal him,
to strengthen him, to enliven him.
The One will send him, speedily,
a complete healing --
healing of the soul and healing of the body --
along with all the ill,
among the people of Israel and all humankind,
soon, speedily, without delay,
and let us all say: Amen.

  4. I'm thinking positive thoughts for Toby as I read this beautiful prayer aloud. Both my brother and a very good writer friend had cardiac events when young, and with prompt medical care, they made a full recovery. Here's hoping that Toby will too.

Wow--this is terrible, but I'm so glad you blogged about it.

I "discovered" his work by poking around your sidebar links. I was hooked after reading "Nord's Gambit." (Any teacher would be.)

I'm sending well wishes from all of my pets--my theory is they are far more powerful than mere humans!
