We're having corned beef and cabbage at Casa PBW to celebrate St. Patrick's Day, and I hope those of you who are doing the same have a safe and fun time out there tonight. Just remember, if you really like to get into the green beer, call a cab or designate a driver to take you home, please.
Last month I held an informal Kyn poll to ask you to vote for who you'd like to see featured in the next Darkyn free e-book. Here are the results:
Lucan and Sam -- 10
Jamys -- 8
Gabriel -- 7
Richard -- 7
Byrne and Jayr -- 6
Nick -- 6
Korvel -- 5
Cella -- 5
Eliane -- 4
Thierry - 2
Rain and Farlae -- 2
Phillipe -- 1
Jema -- 1
The Durands -- 1
Nottingham -- 1
Robin -- 1
I wish I had time to write e-books about all the characters, but I had to make a choice, and I prefer to go with popular demand. So Incarnatio, the next Darkyn free e-book, will feature Lucan, Sam and Jamys, with cameo appearances by Richard and Eliane.

I'd given up hope on finding a excellent paranormal series until I stumbled upon the Darkyn a few weeks ago. I'm looking forward to reading more of this series.
ReplyDeleteand yay! More Sam and Lucan!
:D
Erin Go Bragh!
ReplyDeleteThanks Lynn! Looking forward to the e-book. :)
Yay!
ReplyDeleteByrne and Jayr next time? (hint, hint)
For those of us catching up on the Darkyn series, can you tell us which of your already written e-books are Darkyn-based and what order to read them in? I'm am, admittedly, a little OCD about reading a series in order...
ReplyDeleteYes!!
ReplyDeleteI love your e-books. Have just finished reading Have Mercy, by the way, and thought it was excellent. I can't wait for Omega Games to hit the shelves.
ooooohhhhhh yeah.... excellent!
ReplyDeleteA cameo of Richard and Eliane plus more Sam and Lucan makes my day. Jamys makes it even sweeter. Thanks. I look forward to reading it. BTW, I loved the Have Mercy short story---too funny! I am still reading the StarDoc series but I read and enjoyed the Omega Games excerpt anyway.
ReplyDeleteYeah for Jamys, he's needed his own story!!!
ReplyDeleteI have a stupid question - where are the e-books featuring Lucan and Sam? I swear I've looked around and can't find them. Can anyone point me to them?

ReplyDeleteMidnight Blues was the first Darkyn e-book, followed by the Julian trilogy, Worthy, Willing, and Wanted. Midnight Blues is a standalone, but the trilogy should be read in that order.
One more note -- the next collection of old freebie short stories I'm going to put together on Scribd will be Near Dawn, comprised of the original Darkyn short stories, which I started writing back in 1998. These are the stories which inspired the characters and story lines for If Angels Burn, Dark Need and Night Lost. So if you want to see the original cast and the prototype world-building (which is at times quite a bit different from the print books) you might want to check that out.

ReplyDeleteHey, that's not a stupid question, especially if you're new to the blog. All of my freebies have links over there on the right sidebar. By title, here are the links for the Darkyn e-books, just click on them and they'll take you to the respective Scribd page:
Midnight Blues
Worthy
Willing
Wanted
I'm definitely interested in Near Dawn. Thanks for offering this insight into how the Darkyn concept evolved.
ReplyDeleteMore free reading--cool!
ReplyDeleteIt's been a real joy getting into the Darkyn and StarDoc series, and now my mom is hooked on the Darkyn.
(She's a bit miffed I only have the first three books in the series, so I promised her we'd put a certain gift certificate to use later this week to rectify things.)
You really do rock.
