As a kid I took ballet for quite a few years, so this fascinating video made my toes curl in happy and painful memories:

I always wanted to do ballet as a kid... *sigh* It's such a beautiful art. Loved this video, thanks for sharing. :)
ReplyDeleteThis video made my feet hurt ;o)
ReplyDeleteInteresting comment she made about the figure skater and their boots. I took several years of ballet as well and had to stop because I was never really meant to be en pointe. Though I suggested ballet, DD2 chose to skate for 11 years in those "heavy boots" and what most people don't realize is, the more expensive the boot, the lighter it becomes. At her level, the boots were very light and usually, the blade weighed more.
Oh, and when you're a competitive figure skater, you also have to do ballet, so she ended up taking that too.
Really cool. I'd love to go to London and watch them make the shoes.
ReplyDeleteDanced well into my 20's! Now when people tell me they want to do yoga, I tell them to try ballet for a good stretching : ) Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely brings back memories of sore feet.
ReplyDeletelovely thank you! Brought back memories for me as well!!
ReplyDeleteMy son dances and he does pointe class, he's the only male doing it. He loves it. He stands at 6'1 without being en pointe. It's interesting buying him pointe shoes :)
