Interesting comment she made about the figure skater and their boots. I took several years of ballet as well and had to stop because I was never really meant to be en pointe. Though I suggested ballet, DD2 chose to skate for 11 years in those "heavy boots" and what most people don't realize is, the more expensive the boot, the lighter it becomes. At her level, the boots were very light and usually, the blade weighed more.
Oh, and when you're a competitive figure skater, you also have to do ballet, so she ended up taking that too.
My son dances and he does pointe class, he's the only male doing it. He loves it. He stands at 6'1 without being en pointe. It's interesting buying him pointe shoes :)
I need a lot of time to myself. Lots and lots and lots of it. I need to not have to talk to other people at all for many hours, every day. I need the freedom to write and nap and putter outside, and let the stories arrive. I need space to cook and listen to music, and most of all—read, read, read, read, read. I need a lot of reading time, and it feels like nothing, but it’s everything. -- Barbara O'Neal
