  2. Ahh that's so exciting! The cover looks great, Lynn. :) Though I imagine it must be kind of sad and rather nostalgic to know that your journey with the Kyndred series is almost complete.

Now the long wait for its release but if past experience is correct it will be well worth it.

  10. Wow! I like the cover. The fact that it's the last book, not so much.

  11. Woo Hoo! This is great. But, ummm, er, do I need a time machine? It's being released on November 1 2010?

  12. Thanks for the kind words, everyone.

Lisa, I think my brain is still stuck in 2010, but the book will be out this year.

I'm not sure which series you're asking about. Are you asking if there are to be no more Kyndred, or no more StarDoc?

Well, I'll go ahead and answer both: after a decade of fighting to get and keep my SF in print, I finished the StarDoc series last August. I was able to provide the readers with a complete series and a wrap-up of the story, so I feel I did a pretty good job there.

Unless for some reason sales skyrocket for the Kyndred books, Nightshine will be the last one in that series, and that is something that is entirely decided by the publisher. Since it was also strictly the publisher's idea to have me write the Kyndred books, I'm not as emotionally invested as I was with series like Darkyn and StarDoc. That said, if Kyndred sales pick up the way the Darkyn books did after the publisher told me to kill that series, I have no doubt they'll want me to write more. :)

  14. Let's hope sales pick up so the series continues. This cover is fabulous. Can't wait to buy the book.

Why do all good things have to come to an end? It's like the Darkyn, I need more! And I want it NOW!(do I sound like a spoiled kid of a library director Mom?)

  18. You've gotten great covers in this series!

Really, your series never "end" since you do have characters that make appearances, but I too would like to see this one go farther. I do know you've got all sorts of characters floating around in your head though so there will be more stories :)

I love the cover and hope there are more Kyndred books. If not I'll continue to do what I currently do which is buy and read whatever you publish. Works for me!

  21. Why did the publisher want you to kill the Darkyn series if it was doing so well? I was so enthralled with each book that came out! Your writing skills are phenomenal in capturing the audience’s attention, and the storyline behind the characters…Brilliant! I loved Robin’s book, but it was somewhat difficult for me to believe it was the ending of the series. The Kyndred series is good, but I guess I am just a hardcore Darkyn fan.

If you kill the Kyndred series, is there any hope in the future that different series buildings off the Kyndred or the Darkyn?

I was never given a reason, so I can only speculate. I imagine at the time they told me to end the series it was not producing the sales numbers they expected.

I think the Darkyn will probably always be my most popular series. It's definitely a tough act to follow.

Well, once more it's not me but the publisher who is ending the Kyndred series, but I do have some good news. I am currently working on a trilogy of new Darkyn novels, the first of which will start hitting the shelves in 2012.

  23. Gorgeous cover! I'm so sad to see it's ending. I love the series and am very excited that there's going to be a new Darkyn trilogy!

  24. I don't suppose one of the new Darkyn books will be Korval? Pretty please?
