On the fourth day before Christmas, PBW gave away:
Four galley copies of Omega Games Plus ?*
In comments to this post, name your favorite StarDoc character and why (or, if you don't have a favorite or haven't read the series, just drop your name in the hat) by midnight EST on Sunday, December 23, 2007. I will draw four names at random from everyone who participates and send the winners a signed galley copy** of my eighth StarDoc novel, Omega Games, which will be published in August 2008. This giveaway is open to everyone on the planet, even if you've won something here at PBW in the past.
*The ? is a surprise, and no, I'm not telling you what it is.
**I don't have the official publisher galleys yet, so these will be galleys that I format and print out myself from the final manuscript.

Cherijo. My ticket to a whole new universe. Thanks and Happy Holidays to you, your family and all the other readers here.

The ? gets my curiousity up, so please place my name in the hat.
ReplyDeleteThe ? gets my curiousity up, so please place my name in the hat.
ReplyDeleteSadly, I haven't had the chance to read your StarDoc books yet, but I'm hoping to get some for Christmas (or buy them after Christmas) so, just dropping my name in the hat.
ReplyDeleteDropping el name-o in el hat-o.
ReplyDeleteOhhhhh... I want this prize.
ReplyDeleteMan, I dunno. Duncan, Cherijo/Jarn, or Squilyp. Except I really like Tss-Var, too.
I think my favorite character has been Hawk.
ReplyDeleteCherijo and Marel....although I have a special place in my heart for Duncan. Some didn't like Rebel Ice as much as I did - but I will say that #1 and #3 are my true favs so far.
ReplyDeleteOn the 23rd, huh? It could be a little Happy Birthday to me!
And thanks JulieB - many happy holiday wishes for you and your family as well! :-)
Hands down, Reever. And then the entire Jorenian population. ;)
ReplyDeleteHappy Holidays!
ReplyDeleteSquilyp: sometimes the voice of reason ignored.
ReplyDeleteI'm intrigued! Drop my name in the hat please :)
ReplyDeleteSquilyp. He's the best rounded secondary character I've seen in years.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite character is Reever, because he intrigues me. I'm never sure what he's going to do next.
ReplyDelete*clang*
ReplyDeleteplease put my name in the hat
ReplyDeleteCherjo, easily. She catches my imagination, and makes me wish I had a charactor as good.
ReplyDeleteSign me up! I love everything about StarDoc, even the smelly and slimy parts! Love Cherijo, love Reaver, love the cats and her daughter, love Squid-lips. Your imagination is incredible and I find much pleasure in following it wherever it goes. I love the mix of medicine, science fiction and action-adventure-serial in the books. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteCherijo. She is one of my favorite characters of all time.
ReplyDeleteCherijo would be the obvious, but sometimes she irritates the hell out of me - too perfect by far;}#
ReplyDeleteI kind of like Alunthri, though. A poet's soul in a savage body.
Please put my name in the hat.
ReplyDeleteHappy holidays to everyone!
Look at me! Look at me! I'm on page 157 of *Beyond Varallan*, so I know what I'm talking about.
ReplyDeleteI have to go with two:
T'Nliqinara because it's fun to (pretend) to pronounce her name.
Alunthri because of the intriguing social commentary between it, Jenner, and Cherijo, and the joy of saying Chakacat.
Cherijo. She yanked me in right from the start.
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to pick just one. I like Duncan a lot and Cherijo, too, although she can be a little...stubborn. Heh. I'm definitely looking forward to the next book.
ReplyDeleteI find many of them interesting (which is not the same as liking, no Reever, but keeps me reading as well, lol) but my favourite is Cherijo.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what would happen if she met with Miles Vorkosigan. :)
Hands down, Cherijo. Because she is so totally cool, and is alot of fun to read. Second would have to be Reever. He intrigues me.
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Erin K.
Cherijo, of course, because she is the series. But I really have to vote for Duncan as my favorite.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite character is Reever, Cherijo second. His absolute devotion to Cherijo and his willingness to die for her, in fact, I doubt he could live without her, is so sigh worthy.
ReplyDeleteHave a merry christmas!!!!

I don't think I've met a StarDoc character I didn't warm up to eventually.
ReplyDeleteSquilyp and TssVar are two, but I have to admit a fondness for Alunthri as well.
I'm enjoying the recent postings, but I've only been checking in sporadically. Will read through more thoroughly when I get back to Alabama and kick this pneumonia thing.
Gabriel Seran! Oh. Wait. You said StarDoc, didn't you? Uh. In that case. ... Name, meet Hat. :D
ReplyDeleteAlunthri. Couldn't tell you why. It's just awesome.
ReplyDeleteJust started this series and am loving it!
ReplyDeletePlease put my name in the hat. Merry Christmas! (Oh, wait, that was the last contest...)
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately I haven't had a chance to read this series!
ReplyDeletePlease add my name into the hat!
Thanks,
Terri W.
Too hard to pick a fave, so I'm just dropping my name in the hat.
ReplyDeleteI'm torn between Cherijo and Reever, but really one of the strengths of this series is the cast of characters. You get to know them and care about them and want to know what happens to them. Although obviously Jorenians are superior. *g*
ReplyDeleteMy favorite character is Jarn (NOT Cherijo). Jarn is noble, wise, empathetic, and so sweet to Reever. Her “My love cannot be a thing of convenience…I will love you with all that I am” speech is one of my favorite passages in all of the literature I’ve read. Also, I think it’s very admirable how hard she fights to be Jarn and not Cherijo. (She has to go against everyone!)
ReplyDeleteI love Jarn, I like Reever and Squilyp too, and I’m very excited about the last 3 books of Stardoc! Thanks so much for the first chapter of Omega Games!
JenniferT
Cherijo because she introduced me to these worlds. Absolutely love these stories.
ReplyDeleteI so admire Squilyp and love Marel but of course there would be no story without Cherijo and Reever but then of course I've never met a character that you've written about that I wasn't interested in. Please put my name in the hat - it's tough typing this with fingers crossed that I'll be one of the lucky one.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you and yours,
Marie in RI
Your forcing me to choose one fav, how cruel!...LOL....It would be a tie between Cherijo and Jarn. Two very different sides of one character, always within each other. Struggling for control without realizing that together, they would make a powerful force balancing compassion and strength.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is Duncan Reever. Even if he has his faults, I just love him. Maybe I have a thing for telepaths.
ReplyDeleteToo many to choose! Throwing name into hat.
ReplyDeleteSari
I'm mad at all my favorites at the moment... hoping to find that at least one of them redeems themselves in Omega Games. :)
ReplyDeleteI like Cherijo. In fact, I've read the series twice.
ReplyDeleteI want to take this time to wish all of you a great Holiday!
Hard to choose, but Cherijo has always been special to me. I love her sense of humor and her relationship with Reever.
ReplyDeleteCan I put my name in the hat as a stand in for someone else? I've only read the first two (and thoroughly enjoyed them, as noted on my blog at the time) but when I was at a conference last month, someone who reads them brought me book three because she remembered that I hadn't gotten that far yet and I thought that was an amazingly sweet gesture.
ReplyDeleteShe's a huge fan of yours and I know she would LOVE to win this ARC, so since I haven't seen her post, I'd like to enter for her. One good turn deserves another!
(btw, her name is Anne and her blog is Fractured Fiction)
REEVER!!
ReplyDeleteI'd have to go with Alunthri. I love how everytime I decide exactly what "it" looks like or what it's really like, something new happens and I change my mind again.
ReplyDeleteNo faves, as the only copy of StarDoc is signed and I'm not cracking that spine. I will get to reading the series, though, as I like to support the authors who lend a hand. So, then, in the hat with me. (please)
ReplyDeleteOh I love Duncan! Can my name be put in the hat, too?
ReplyDeleteThanks! Lisa
Cherijo
