Got Cover

Here's the cover art for the final StarDoc novel, Dream Called Time, book ten (to see a large version, click on the image.)

Made it to the last book of the series without a single unsightly cover in the bunch, too:

My only regret is that the publisher decided to change the cover design toward the end of the series to "update" it, as the last three covers don't mesh well with the first seven. But I also realize cover art styles and tastes change over the years and cohesion is not a top priority. Hardly anyone gets to write a SF series that spans a decade, either, so I think I'll just be happy and grateful that Cherijo was never depicted headless, semi-naked or dressed in hot pink DayGlo Spandex.

  2. Lynn I finally found StarDoc in a local bookstore, and then that same day saw it in the local library. Been searching for it for ages. Yay, someone has finally got taste in my town.

  4. Very gorgeous! And maybe when there is a box set release of all 10 books the covers can be redone and be a match!!! Well, I can dream can't I?

  5. It's going to be a long eight months til August. Aaaargh.

Mental note to self: re-read the other nine this summer. Try NOT to throw any at the wall.

Afterwards: Let the #&@%* author know which book's perfect but evil ending caused the throwing... maybe she'll do it again sometime.

  6. There you go, count your non-pink blessings. I think it's a very good cover. Although I really hope there'll be more StarDoc universe in the future.

  7. A decade is impressive indeed. And I don't mind the "updated" look of the last three books at all.

  8. Much as I understand why you'd want them to follow the series pattern, I can see why they chose this layout.

Your name is bigger. Always a good sign. :o)

    Congrats, Lynn!

  9. It's a great cover. I'm looking forward to reading the book. I'm still sulking a little over it being the last in the series.

Can't wait for it to hit the shelves. I too prefer the original cover designs but like you said it could be worse.

    Lynn,
Congratulations! I have all of your books from the StarDoc series and have re-read them several times. It will be sad to see the series end, but I believe like you do that every good story or series should eventually come to an end. But, there's nothing that says you can't continue writing in the StarDoc universe (hint, hint, hint with a hammer to the head). And looking at all the covers, you're right, there's not a bad cover on any of them. And no pink either!

  14. I like the new covers - they have a cleaner feel to them in my eyes. Also, the lack of Day-Glo Pink Spandex is a huge blessing.

  18. I like how open the later covers are, but I gotta admit...

    I miss the pink!

    :-P

Ten years. Sad that it's coming to an end, but awesome nonetheless.

  20. I too am sad that it's ending, but happy that it ended on your terms and that the cover gods have smiled on you.

  21. I like that cover. And even though I'm looking forward to August to get my next stardoc fix, it's sad to see it come to an end. I do understand the reasoning behind it. All things must come to an end. Good luck with your newer projects.

Hey, any chance of an e-book bundle of your books coming out as one group for purchase? I'd love to get the whole series in e-book format when the last one comes out (for my brand new nook!)

I'm only up to Shockball, but I'm ordering in the rest as I can. I've never been so attached to a book as I have Stardoc.
Very happy for you to have carried your series to a finish. Hope you enjoyed writing them as much as I do reading them.
    Your Aussie fan,
