Manifestypo

A couple of years ago I wrote a poem in response to an act of petty censorship within the biz. It wasn't a great poem, more of a rant that rhymed, but it did produce a line that has been my personal writing manifesto ever since:

I created the above image by adding some text to an image generated by The Typo Generator, which does not misspell words but creates art out of them (and a tip if you want to try it -- I've found it works best when you enter the text vertically versus horizontally.) You can choose to keep any text style, color or background it produces while changing one or two of the others.

Here are a couple examples of the same text with different backgrounds and text colors:

So if you had to create a personal writing (or working) manifesto, motto or mission statement, what would it be? Let us know in comments.

Sadly, recently, something along the lines of "I'll think about it tomorrow...."

In the words of, uh, James Hetfield, "What don't kill ya make ya more strong." I'm a firm believer in growth through challenge.

  8. These are the things I try to stick to.

Be true to yourself and your voice
Read widely but do not copy, uniqueness earns it's own rewards
Enjoy even the smallest triumphs and learn from the setbacks.
When in doubt blame the hardware
Giving up is the only failure

    I dunno...maybe

IMAGE IS NOT MORE IMPORTANT THAN CHARACTER

I heard something along those lines on the radio the other day, and it's really, and I mean REALLY, stuck with me.

I keep this personal memo on the wall where I write.

  14. I know, you posted this the other day, but this is how much time I've wasted playing with this dumb thing! You have to stop posting so many of these great toys. :-P

Lately, anything that distracts me from writing has been a wonderful thing...and this one about tops the list. LOL
