Whoopee!

I wasn't sure I could get the freelance career going smoothly in less than a year, but as of yesterday I have steady weekly and monthly work (and both jobs are really fun), plus I'm booked full-time through April of 2016 on series projects. The really nice part is building my own list of clients who are terrific to work for and offer consistently interesting assignments. I'm so much happier and relaxed, too. I'm not going to say I should have done this years ago, but I'm glad I was at the point to make the transition without regrets (because now I have zero, lol.)

So what's going on with you all? Let us know in comments.

  1. I'm so pleased it's all working out for you and you're less stressed. A relief after the past year. For me I'm still working at the same company i've been with for the past 18 years. I'm lucky enough to enjoy my work and with my sewing and reading, enjoying watching my kids grow into wonderful adults, i can't complain. I try to remember to count my blessing and they are many.

  2. Still writing and self-publishing. I just gave a talk on Agatha Christie last weekend to a group of 30 fans who meet twice a year, and I'll be introducing a mystery author at a small convention on Saturday. I'm just about to start rewriting a book I had hastily written in '07 for Amazon's contest that's different from my usual works (comic novel, contemporary). And now I'm going to pet Ivan the Terrible, who just jumped on the desk for his morning purr.

  4. Just being able to relax and enjoy the job is reward enough. I'm happy for you. It's nice to hear someone reap the fruits of her labor.

Me? I'm a week behind on all my projects after being so sick. And today I find out my mother is coming a few days early. Oy. Time to put it into overdrive.

  5. Yay! I'm so happy for you. :hugs:

I'm chugging right along. This self-publishing thing isn't the easiest job I've ever had, but like you, I'm glad I made the transition. So much more relaxed and happy now. =o)

  6. YAY! I'm really happy for you that it's all worked out. I know it was a huge step for you, but sometimes, that leap of faith pays off, doesn't it? ;)

My new position is nice, I get home an hour earlier which is a huge plus for me but I really think I'm going to stop working next November when the program ends. Or it's supposed to anyway. I miss writing, barely string three words a week together and it makes me crabby. I've been sick, really sick, for the past three days so took yesterday and today off to do nothing but sleep and read and catch up. I'm looking at all those flower beds filled now with weeds and as much as I want to pull them, I'm not feeling good enough. Maybe tomorrow.
