Another First

I went to the market yesterday to pick up some milk and bread, and of course I walked down the book aisle because not walking down it would mean I have a concussion or something. My books never make it to the market's shelves, naturally, but I do like to see which big name bestsellers have books out on the same week I do -- or any week, for that matter. Thus I cruised along the market's book shelves:

I almost didn't see it, but I've gotten in the habit of checking the very bottom shelves because for some reason that's where they always put my favorite authors' books. And then, I spotted it:

My first book ever in my own market. So is it weird that I tiptoed past it?

  1. Meant to tell you, I saw some of your books in our local grocery a few weeks back. They were at about the four-foot level, with stack of more at the bottom.

Stocking day is Tuesday, and I saw them on Thursday. There was only one left in it's "spot" in the rack, so I took some of the ones from the bottom and filled it back up.

(And dug in my purse for sticky notes, thinking I'd write "This is a GREAT author!" and stick on each book, lol. But alas, no sticky notes in my purse. Never did figure out where I lost them, either.)

Then, I was back in there that Saturday evening, and every single one of your books was gone. I was so surprised, I dug around in the racks, thinking there had to be one or two left, and they'd just been moved, but nada.

I'm apparently not the only one of your readers here in the Gorge, lol.

  3. Very cool. If I see Nightbound in my grocery store I'll make sure it's at eye level.

Congratulations and how exciting. Must be kind of weird seeing your name on the book though, particulary if someone was looking at it when you went past. Would you be able to hold in a big grin & an "I wrote that!!!"?

  7. I have also seen your books at my markets in Texas and even here in South Carolina. I have never really paid attention to placement but maybe we should have a treasure hunt for all the places we find your books!

  9. That is so cool! Wow. I am glad for you, that you got to see it at your market. I'll have to check next time I'm at the grocery store/pharmacy. I know it was at the local Barnes and Noble yesterday.

  10. Congratulations, I haven't spotted your books yet on the market shelves. I wonder how the buyer chooses what books make on the shelves. All I've ever seen are romances I never heard of...You would think since a book is in major bookstores, it would be in the markets.

  12. My copy came day before yesterday. I haven't had a chance to read it yet but I'm hoping to this weekend so I can do it uninterrupted.

I thinks that's pretty darned nifty to see your own title in the store you frequent. It must be a bit of a shock, but it a really weird, fun way. Very cool :)

  15. It was on the top shelf in the New Release section at my grocery store when I went shopping on Tuesday. Really cool, but doubly so that you saw it at your own store... ;D

  16. Congrats! If it makes you feel better, I usually ignore the authors at the top and scour the bottom shelves because that's where I'm likely to find something I want to read
