I'm in the midst of finishing up some work, so I've invited the Publishing Fairy to stop in and wave her wand over one of you. No, you won't turn into an author. Unless you're a frog. I can't do anything about any accidental amphibian anthropomorphisms.
If you've got a book to wish for, in comments to this post tell us the title of the last book you read (or if you can't remember, just toss your name in the magic hat) by midnight EST on Friday, February 1st, 2013. I'll draw one name at random from everyone who participates, and PF will grant the winner a BookWish*. This giveaway is open to everyone on the planet, even if you've won something here at PBW in the past.
*A BookWish is any book of the winner's choice available for order online and that costs up to a maximum of $30.00 U.S. dollars (I'll cover any additional shipping costs involved.)

ReplyDeleteThe last book I read was one that you sent me when I won the book wish just before Christmas. It was Killing Time by Linda Howard and I'm so glad you sent it because it was great, I loved it. This was a theme break in the middle of reading the "In Death" series by J D Robb.

The last book I read was Nalini Singh's Archangel's Blade.
ReplyDeleteYesterday, I finished reading Robert Jordan's New Spring. I'm re-reading the series before I give in and read the last book. I can't quite believe it's over. Both that it's finished... and that it was finishable, given the circumstances.
ReplyDeleteLast books of series, especially loved series that held onto the hope of seeing the end to since my early teens - those are the most difficult to let go of. I still haven't managed to let myself read The Land of Painted Caves by Jean Auel.
It took me eight years - yes eight - to give in and read the 7th Dark Tower book - and then I only did because Stephen King had given in and written an 8th. I just couldn't bear to see it over.
I'm not like that about everything - I read far too prolifically for that - but there are a select few, that oh my... it's much of what convinces me that in heaven, no one will need superglue to apply rear to chair to write. The words will come easy, and all of us with a story to tell shall be able to easily share.
Just finished "Going Interstellar" edited by Les Johnson and Jack McDevitt.
ReplyDeleteI've just finished reading Life of Pi for the second time in anticipation of seeing the movie tonight.
ReplyDeleteI'd forgotten how much I adored the novel - I find the writing so engaging. Hope the movie can live up to it!

ReplyDeleteLynn,
ReplyDeleteWell, when Larissa Ione's latest novel, Rogue Rider came out, I ran out and bought it. (I had womanfully controlled myself to wait until all four books had been released.) Then right after Thanksgiving, I started reading the first book in the Lords of Deliverance series, Eternal Rider. I read the entire series series between Thanksgiving and New Year's which is quite an accomplishment considering the amount of running around I did! I have started a new book, but not sure if I like it yet so I won't mention it.
