Back & Winners

I apologize for my temporary absence, folks. Aside from the power and communication issues, the aftermath of these tornadoes really upset my kids. They went through a lot during the 2004 hurricane season, but in some ways this was worse. I know you won't mind that I made being mom my priority today.

Also, thanks to everyone who sent their congratulations to Rob via the RGB in FLA giveaway. You can catch his reaction at the end of the comment thread. I drew the names of the winners, and they are:

danetteb

aka_Nik

Jess (whose comment began with *happy dance* YAY! Debuts are inspirational.)

Winners, please e-mail me at LynnViehl@aol.com with your full name and ship-to address so I can get these books out to you.

I'll be answering the Friday 20 questions tonight and tomorrow, so keep an eye on the comment thread. I appreciate everyone's patience, and hopefully I'll be back on schedule by Monday.

  1. Poor kiddies :(

My son stresses in storms too, and has recently come up with a book on tornados that lists Florida as the #1 tornado state in the U.S. That’s one statistical fact he could have done without! Hope everything settles to normal soon.

Of course we don't mind that you took care of your kids, first. My brother freaks during storms, but insists on watching the Weather Channel during storms, which just feeds his panic.

    Congratulations to the winners!

  3. I'm glad that everyone is ok. Storms can definitely rattle people to the core.

  4. Good to know your everyone's OK. Growing up in the tropics, I've never seen a tornado but have experienced plenty of tropical rainstorms where the entire house would shake from the force of the wind and thunder. I can only imagine how scary it must have been for your kids.

  8. Congrats winners. Guess I'll just have to buy the book (and what's wrong with that?).

When the kids need you, they need you. You won't catch any guff from us. Yours are old enough to understand what happened, and I can understand them being upset.

An F5 tornado took out my hometown when I was 8, but I was mostly shielded from the horror. I saw it, but it didn't register, and my dad took us to my grandparents for a week or so.

your priorities are right where they need to be. mommying is the job that has to come first.

    hope they are doing okay.

we had some tornadoes hit in Kentucky a few years ago. We missed all the damage but my daughter saw some of the news footage and it scared her. She still freaks out when it looks like a tornado might be brewing.

  10. Glad to hear that you're all safe. Sorry the kids were upset by the tornadoes. I been through a couple of tornadoes, and seen the aftermath of several more, and they're scary at any age. Hope the weather calms down soon.
Congrats to all of the winners, and to the proud author.

  12. Very understandable. After the rash of severe storms we had here, my small people were completely freaked out. Hope everybody's happy at Casa PBW now. And hope the weather calms down. Looks like that storm left a real mess behind.
