Off to Finale

I'm taking off today to work on finishing up a deadline for my day job -- and I likely won't be back until Wednesday, 11/22. See you then.

I'm unplugging today to get some work done and clean up after Tropical Storm Colin. See you tomorrow.

Off to Finish

I have a couple of work and personal projects to finish up before the holidays arrive, so I'm unplugging to attend to them. While I'm away, here are some holiday links for you:

I always visit NORAD's Santa Tracker site each December, which has updated and looks very cool this year. If you go to Santa's village and visit the arcade, you can play a new game every day until Christmas.

Snowday's holiday classic Create Your Own Snowflake site is also back for another holiday season of making virtual snowflakes. I've already made my first one, and no doubt I will be making more.

Every year I make a point to revisit Jacquie Lawson's animated e-card The Snow Dog because it just makes me happy.

See you on Sunday for Just Write.

Off to Write

You know you're behind on your blogging when you go to schedule your next day's post at 12:57 am and there isn't one to schedule. I could have sworn I had one in the queue, but alas, no.

Just as well. I'm unplugging today to knock out some work and take care of some housework and errands. We're running a bit behind on Christmas so I'm hoping to catch up this weekend.

Just FYI, I haven't got a lot planned for the holidays on PBW; I do have to work this month so naturally the clients come first. That said, I'm putting together some inexpensive gift ideas and photos to share in upcoming posts (which I will find the time to write, too.) I might also try one or more of Cooking Light magazine's 100 healthy cookie recipes for fun and show you the results. If you want to check them out for your holiday baking see the thumbnail index here. I'll also be continuing to work a little bit on Twenty-One each week.

See you all tomorrow for another Sunday edition of Just Write, and more of Nex's adventures.

Off to Write

We made it through the storm okay, and I hope everyone else in the strike zone did too. The biggest problem for us was the lightning, which got scary a few times. All of the unplugging we did kept me from updating PBW, and now I do need to catch up on some work, so I'm going to bail on you all for a few days. See you once I get caught up.

Tiger Eyed

I'm back, and thanks to everyone for your patience while I was off writing and dealing. To have some fun today (and find out how sharp your color vision is) try this online eye test and discover which animal shares your range of color vision.

I was expecting to score badly, but the new and improved eyes actually did pretty well with a score of 21 and no errors:

I'm pretty sure most tigers can see anything better than me, but it was an interesting test.

So which animal's eyesight do you have? Let us know in comments.

Off to Write and Clean

I need to unplug from the internet for a couple days to finish a project for a client, tidy the office and clean the rest of my house. I've run out of pre-written posts to put up in my absence, and I'm kind of sick of doing the blast from the past thing, so expect a repeat of this along with some pretty images to fill in while I'm away.

See you in a couple of days.

Off to Deal

I'm taking the weekend off to write and deal with some work-related stuff. So that your stop here was not a complete waste of clicking, here is not one but two brilliant videos that discuss why so many geniuses are/were, in fact, complete losers -- and what that means to everyone else in the creative world:

See you on Monday.

Off Again

I'm bailing on you all today to get some work finished. In the meantime, here's a video from Stanislas Giroux using bokeh, one of my favorite photography techniques, to turn firework explosions into surreal blooms of light (with background music, for those of you at work):

Word Power

I'm unplugging for a day to do some writing and catch up on work. So that your stop here was not entirely wasted, I recommend checking out this video (music plays in the background, for those of you at work.) I'm rarely moved by advertising, but it got me right in the heart:

Thanks

I appreciate everyone who has been e-mailing their thoughts and prayers; as soon as I get a chance I'll reply. My guy's brother passed away with his family around him, and now we're just coping with the loss and grief.

During times of sadness I think it's important to honor life as well as do things that lift your spirits. This is why I've decided to take a shot at the Cloth Paper Scissors mini-book challenge I mentioned last month. I know my guy's brother would approve; he loved to laugh. I've put together a mock-up of the images and text I'll be using for my project and uploaded it to Scribd; if anyone wants to see what I have planned click here. Note 9/3/10: Since Scribd.com instituted an access fee scam to charge people for downloading e-books, including those I have provided for free for the last ten years, I have removed this document and temporarily transferred it to Google Docs here. See my post about this scam here.

As for the blog, I'll probably get back to posting next week. Thanks for your patience and understanding.

Out of Here

I want one of these, badly, but I'd have to buy a bigger house. I'm also wondering how you get to the books on the inside curves. Leap over the top?

While I ponder that, I'm also taking a couple days off from the blog to finish a book and recharge my batteries (and any comments you want to post will be stuck in the moderation queue until Sunday evening when I get back.)
