I want to be the tenacious rose who does what's best for it and because of that, blooms in the midst of the worst winter ever.

I want to write from my heart. Do I want it a mess? Of course not. But if I followed every rule, every suggestion, every thing that the publishing world currently 'demands,' then it isn't really from my heart anymore, is it?

So I keep plodding along, writing what I love. The encouragement pours in from published friends of mine and the rejection notices pile up from the agents.

One day, maybe they'll all have a cosmic love in and think that my stories have some merit after all.

Sorry. This is why I don't actively pursue publication. If it happens, it happens, but if it ever does, it'll be something I'm happy writing. Although I must admit...it is encouraging to see a writer being successful while applying this. :-) Thanks!Keita Harukahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05030084637727443671noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8343238.post-17721460168907752122011-07-29T09:24:40.626-04:002011-07-29T09:24:40.626-04:00Thanks. Oh, ...The picture of your roses is quite telling.

Oh, how I wish to be the author whose work survives, who is read far past my lifetime, and not with a wrinkled nose from displeasure.

My first rule is to write (or rewrite) something so that I can enjoy it. If I don't feel compelled, I can't imagine anybody else will either. But I can't know if it works for others until they read it and tell me truthfully, and that is harder.

Thought-provoking post. I'm going to be up tonight thinking on this.Dr. Cheryl Carvajalhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15323455180953109460noreply@blogger.com
