Too bad their editors and agents series ended. I like hearing those people's stories from the trenches, so to speak. I guess we'll now be stuck with more articles on the etherealness of writing literary realism.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18382258703126540760noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8343238.post-64296172113416318342010-01-23T15:54:14.548-05:002010-01-23T15:54:14.548-05:00Thank you for posting about that article in P&...Thank you for posting about that article in P&W on writer's block. Those that really only want to hold a book in their hands and give their memoirs to their families, for example. Those whose stories have such a limited appeal (maybe 50 people) that no commercial publisher will take the chance or financial risk.

That said, the main question is how not to get ripped off, what are the best "free" services, what do they offer. The debate is quite complex and of course quite disheartening. I'd be interested to know if they covered enough angles to actually be helpful on the matter.Aleksandr Voinovhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06583805228909693924noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8343238.post-59674322792021234932010-01-23T08:24:42.922-05:002010-01-23T08:24:42.922-05:00I stopped reading those magazines ages ago...right...I stopped reading those magazines ages ago...right about the time when I started reading blogs by smart writers. It's nice to hear about the handful of authors who make it big via self-publication, but hard stats on how many don't make it, how few writers earn back their investment, and exactly how time-consuming and aggravating the self-pub process can be would have provided more balance."

I don't think 'balance' is something a lot of people strive for when discussing selfpublishing.

That's terrible to say, but I really don't.

Too many myths, too much misinformation and a hell of a lot of spin abound about selfpubs and finding good, proven info about self pubs is kind of like beating your head against a brick wall.

There HAS to be info out there, but...well, I dunno where it is.Shiloh Walkerhttp://shilohwalker.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.com
