I know who the big threat is and I know who needs to be the antagonist, but he's starting out as a good guy. So I'm finding it challenging to realistically turn him into a big bad.Jordan Summershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00437563784716604402noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8343238.post-16955349270282734002011-05-28T16:03:38.841-04:002011-05-28T16:03:38.841-04:00What a beautiful little guy! We used to have many in the yard but with the advent of DDT, they never really did come back very strong.

My antagonist tends to grow with the story. I'm afraid if I were to delve too deeply into his psyche, I might not kill him off and he usually needs to be killed off. I do try to give him some reason that might garner just the tiniest bit of sympathy though sometimes, they just don't give me anything 'nice' to work with. Those are the ones I like to get rid of as viciously as I can.nightsmusichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05984119792540771870noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8343238.post-20691862544776811082011-05-27T12:58:25.896-04:002011-05-27T12:58:25.896-04:00Oh, this is what my book needed. And now I realize I need to go with shades of gray and think about how his twisty tortured ass can be a hero from another perspective. And really, wouldn't making him live happily ever after in the future be worse for him than death? It could also be a black rat snake, but those make a skunky smell when startled.Jennifer RPhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13804020453735917745noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8343238.post-50815873759849996842011-05-27T02:49:06.169-04:002011-05-27T02:49:06.169-04:00Aww, it's a widdle snakey! In one case, I came to like him better than I liked the hero. O_o

(and I agree about the snakes--have seen some absolutely beautiful ones, though I'm also happy to give them their space, lol).rainehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04258822737734173873noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8343238.post-28942054068303507942011-05-27T01:23:12.715-04:002011-05-27T01:23:12.715-04:00Love the pictures! I'm jealous. =)

Sometimes I have the problem of making my villains too cool and then I don't want them to be villains. I want them to be redeemed!
