Making pallettes is something I learned when I did weaving, and I took the same idea to my knitting and quilting.

Have you seen Adobe's Kuler site? I sometimes use it to jumpstart my art (especially if I have a yarn color that I need to match and am feeling in a rut with it).

I decided to try using a random palette to use as a writing prompt and saw this one and just *had* to write a scene with that as a theme:
http://kuler.adobe.com/#themeID/1175537
It's called "friends and foes". Worked great for the action scene I was writing.Vom Marlowehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06766012140370862681noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8343238.post-4831390323804728322011-01-27T15:06:25.437-05:002011-01-27T15:06:25.437-05:00I think I'm falling in love with your blog...t...I think I'm falling in love with your blog...this is an awesome idea.:)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05686424597825645224noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8343238.post-71236528257153108892011-01-27T10:51:11.802-05:002011-01-27T10:51:11.802-05:00We love the Audubon Collection! I haven't finished my tumbling blocks scrap quilt and now you have me thinking of a geometric art quilt that starts in deep jungle greens and browns and eases into grain browns and desert yellows for my SF novel which is a clash between two sapient species, one in the forest and one who is agricultural but in a slash and burn technique so leaves a wasteland behind them. Sigh. It would be fun too :).

No one much likes my room either, but it's an orangey yellow that transforms to a banana yellow depending on what lighting it has. Keeps me happy on the dreary winter days.Margaret M. I never even thought of delving into colour as you've done. This is a brilliant post and I think the same outlook/attitude could be applied to many other traits and properties besides colour.lxzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14898457609552734512noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8343238.post-45273791195839402542011-01-26T16:44:04.162-05:002011-01-26T16:44:04.162-05:00What a great idea! I may just have to try and put some palettes together. A color palette is exactly what I need to finish things off!!

Thank you for this very timely recommendation!Stacehttp://www.dumoski.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8343238.post-60486574652446974632011-01-26T10:50:13.450-05:002011-01-26T10:50:13.450-05:00I love this idea. I already do collages for each ms, and I intuitively choose colors that "match" my story, but now I'm going to take it further and incorporate the palette purposefully into story.Cindyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08561295337096134973noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8343238.post-5916581761925021302011-01-26T10:26:57.134-05:002011-01-26T10:26:57.134-05:00I like this idea. But now I can't wait to add this color-palette dimension. Thanks so much for the inspiration & links.Charadehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16461603001722068211noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8343238.post-52342770146083686112011-01-26T08:59:21.808-05:002011-01-26T08:59:21.808-05:00This is such an inspiring and original post.
